World Series of Poker: First Two Starting Days

VanessaThe first two starting days of the World Series of Poker have welcomed a total of 3,180 optimistic players; each parting with $10,000 for their stake; their shot for the pot of gold, in the biggest poker event of the year.

Day 1A saw a mild introduction, with many of the well-known players taking a back seat and leaving it to the amateurs. By the second starting day, the big names began to step out, in force. PokerStars Team Pro Vanessa Selbst had an expected profitable first day, finishing in third place.

The Pros did not let the team down; following Selbst was Daniel Negreanu with more over $140,000, and Eugene Katchalov who came close to $100,000. George Danzer, finished with over $80,000; clearly still feeling the buzz of the night before, at the Deuce to Seven event, where he secured third place.

Over 3,000 players are expected to be in attendance at the Rio for Day 1C; among them will be the majority of Team PokerStars Pros, yet to play. The final starting day has a reputation of attracting the highest capacity, in recent years it has been the busiest starting day, but this year the pressure is really on to bring up the numbers. In order to match last year’s WSOP Main Event turnout of 6,865 players, the final starting day, (Day 1C) which starts Monday at midday, will have to attract a huge 3,685 players.
